New contacts and insights for future work

Building Green in Copenhagen brings together up to 10,000 visitors in the field of sustainable construction. Together with four member companies, Tillverka i Trä participated to make contacts, test offers and identify opportunities in new markets. The matchmaking on site provided concrete business benefits.

- The matchmaking worked very well - all four companies from Tillverka i Trä had meetings with companies they were matched with. It was also very rewarding to create new contacts with other actors on site for future collaborations, says Vítor Ortega, business coach, Innovatum Science Park.

The function of the network - to connect actors - was highlighted as central:

- Participating has paid off in the past. A small meeting can generate effects in the future. It is important to work on the connections," says Lisa Bredahl-Nerdal, Strategist, Region Halland.

Valuable contacts for the future

Invest in Halland emphasized the importance of Nordic cooperation:

- We will work to make wood the natural choice. I see that we can develop the network, primarily in the Nordic region, and Building Green is a given meeting place," says Erik Behm, strategist, Invest in Halland.

For member companies, the presence provided direct value:

- It's great! We help each other to network. My customers can become their customers and vice versa. We have historically sold via networks, and this trade fair is the next step," says Lars Hartmann, Verkstadsbolaget.

For others, participation was about exploring market maturity and demand for wood technologies.

- Wopas has a technology that is now being applied in other areas, so we are here to understand how customers think about using our product in house building. We have had a lot of good dialogs today that we can follow up on and that is valuable. I think we have scanned about 15 new contacts in one day alone, says Tomas Linblad, from Wopas.

Important to demonstrate climate savings

This year's theme at Building Green, Scaling for Enough, highlighted how we can scale construction and solutions resource-efficiently - without overusing materials and climate. A clear insight from the talks was the need to prove climate savings - not just talk about them.

- This is important knowledge to share more actively in our network and something we can integrate in future activities," says Vítor Ortega.

At the same time, according to the Circularity Gap Report, global circularity is declining - a challenge we hope to help reverse in practice.

- Global circularity has decreased from 9.1% → 7.2% → 7.1%

- Sweden's circularity rate is around 3.4%, one of the lowest in Europe
