The Making in Wood project ends - now the network gears up!
The successful Manufacturing in Wood project has now come to an end, putting several successful activities to rest. Among other things, the project has established and developed test beds and created forms of collaboration for the design, manufacture and industrial development of wood products. The Making in Wood network lives on lives on in a new and broader project.
Much of the project's focus has been on developing contexts, testbeds and methods that respond to the needs of the wood industry. In particular, we have targeted wood manufacturing companies and their suppliers of equipment, systems and services, as well as designers and makers. The aim has been to create forums for interaction between companies and to expand opportunities for them to find and develop new business opportunities.
The project as such will end, but as we have developed an established network for industrial wood construction, the network will of course live on and explore more sustainable and circular solutions in wood manufacturing. The activities that have had to go a bit on the back burner due to the lack of external funding are now gaining new momentum within the newly launched Smart Transition project. The Manufacturing in Wood network will continue within Smart Transition and will focus on industrial construction in wood. It is fantastic that the network can live on and that companies can access more opportunities through a new project. There is a great drive among the companies and a desire both to collaborate and to have an exchange with researchers and test new methods. This has been done successfully in the Tillverka i Trä project and, as I know the companies, it will continue in the network and now also through Smart Transition.

The kick-off for the new start will be to participate in Nordbygg in April 2024, where we will have the opportunity to talk about the network's purpose and successes.
